This is an in-person class at Fuzzy Goat! Please review our class policies before enrolling. Adults only please

We've had a lot of requests to learn the Ladderback Jaquard method of carrying long floats for colorwork. Melissa and Cadence have used this technique for the Drawing Sweater and the Barberry Sweater. Embrace the challenge of managing long floats with the clever ladderback jacquard method, adding a layered dimension to your knitting skills while knitting a headband. (our photo is of the inside of the Barberry Sweater so that you can see the technique in action.) Please be sure and read the skills you need for the class.

Easy, seamless, and beautiful, the ladderback jacquard technique will improve the tension of your stranded knitting while allowing you to span much larger areas between stitches. This knitting method adds stretch to your floats while preventing the alternate color from peeking through, and can be applied to nearly any stranded knitting project

Time: One 2-hour class

Level 4 Cashmere: ready to add expert techniques, able to tangle with advanced techniques

Skills you need:

  • knit and purl stitch
  • knitting in the round, have finished a circular project
  • have successfully used a knitting pattern
  • have done at least simple colorwork (this isn't a beginner class on working with two colors at one time)
  • working with charts
Skills you’ll learn:
  • Ladderback Jacquard method with two colors

Materials:

  • Two colors of Worsted or DK yarn, animal fiber preferred for it's "give" (Alpakka Ull would be great!)
    • 70 yards and 22 yards in contrasting colors
    • We sure do appreciate it when you use Fuzzy Goat yarn in your Fuzzy Goat classes. Your purchase helps sustain us to be around for years to come.
  • Needles: US 4 & 5 12-16" needles, Shorties, or magic loop if you're comfortable with this technique -we won't be covering how to do that method in class
  • Highlighter tape
  • Stitch markers
Preparation: Cast on and be ready to start the colorwork

Melissa Johnson is your Yarnista helping you plan your projects, texting you back & taking your phone orders! Melissa is an avid knitter, especially of sweaters (tennis & bridge player too). She taught herself to knit when she was living in Rhode Island right after college. She has three kids that keep her busy so we are very fortunate to have her serving alongside us!

Despite every effort to provide accurate images of each product's color, actual colors may vary slightly due to different device screen settings. Slight variations in tone and saturation will vary from monitor to monitor. The actual color of your item may vary slightly from what you see on your screen.

    Return Policy

To protect you from odd dye lots, odors, or allergens, yarn may not be returned. We want to be sure that each skein you get has come direct from the dyer, to the shop to you. Full priced items other than yarn may be exchanged for shop credit if Fuzzy Goat receives the item within 2 weeks of when you received the item. Curated boxes are not eligible for returns

To be eligible for an exchange, there must be proof of purchase, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. It must also be in the original packaging and in re-saleable condition when Fuzzy Goat receives it. Shop credit will be for the items purchased and not inclusive of shipping. We recommend insuring your package as we cannot credit returns for items that do not arrive.

If you are requesting to cancel an order, within two hours of your order and we have not wound your yarn and it has not yet reached our Fulfillment Maven, we will issue you shop credit for your whole order. (We incur quite a few non-refundable fees from our merchant services as soon as your order is placed)

    Thanks for your understanding.

    Missed Coupon Policy

If you make a request, within the hour of your order, for us to retroactively apply coupon codes or gift card codes not entered at checkout we will need to deduct the merchant processing fees that we will be assessed. We will issue your difference in shop credit to be used in 60 days. Please be sure to fully enter your coupon code or gift card before completing checkout.
